Sprinkles of Genius, With a Chance of Doom

Colors (1988)

Fascinating movie. The first sequence is sort of a turn-off because it feels a bit too easy, like “black guys smoke weed and kill guys with red bandanas: The Motion Picture.” But it grows on you. Duvall and Sean Penn are pretty excellent. Also, how often do you get a creative triumvirate like Dennis Hopper/Haskell Wexler/Herbie Hancock?

There are so many recognizable black actors in this show that I decleared a Writ of Samuel L. Jackson about halfway through and stopped looking them up.
